Evaluating the Success of Our Scout Programs PDF Print E-mail

We Evaluate our Scout Programs in the Short Term

We evaluate our Scout Programs every time we see a smile on the face of our Scouts.  We evaluate our Scout Programs every time we hear them laugh. girl smiling

With every Challenge our Scouts earn, we know we are accomplishing our goals as Scout Programs.

The Scout Programs of Adventure Scouts USA consciously value continuous improvement.  Our Scout Programs were intentionally created to be open and changeable so our Scouts could put their hopes and dreams for a Scout Program into our system, and personalize their own adventures.  Our Scout Programs are by and for our Scouts; we want their input because we do all of this for them.

Therefore, every element of our Scout Programs is subject to review and no benchmark is considered high enough.  Once we have reached one plateau, one impossible goal, we target another.

We Evaluate our Scout Programs in the Long Term

Our Scout Programs can only be evaluated in the long term by seeing how our current Scouts conduct themselves as adults.  Will our Scouts who were instilled with an appreciation of democracy and voting make better voters?  Will our Scouts who were instilled with an appreciation of nondiscrimination be less likely to discriminate as adults?teens with parents  Will our Scouts who learned consensus and respecting all opinions be more likely to move our world toward peace?  We think so.  And most importantly, how will our Scouts parent when they are parents themselves?

The Scout Programs of Adventure Scouts USA do not choose to evaluate the success of our programs today, or by how many Scouts are our members.  Rather, we look to the day, when ten and fifteen years from now, our Scouts choose to begin to raise their own family.  It is how they interact with their own children that we measure success.

We have created a future that is open and very exciting by creating Scout Programs that focus on creating thinking, responsible, resourceful youth.  What may be possible tomorrow?  The future is unlimited.  Our Scouts reach for the stars and help others to similarly reach for them.
